Polestar 3 verdict

Should you buy one?
That really depends on what you’re looking for in a big luxury SUV. If you’re looking for a polished electric SUV offering ample front and rear space for passengers in a comfortable package that makes a design statement, the Polestar 3 is for you. However, if like many, you need a big to lug around all your family paraphernalia, look elsewhere. It’s not small as such, but the Polestar’s loadbay will quickly be filled by a baby’s equipment or family holiday clobber.
If this isn’t a problem, the Polestar 3 should be high up your luxury SUV shortlist. It’s a comfortable, luxurious way to travel that still handles well in the bends, and it’s quick, too. The driving range is good and rear space is almost limousine-like.
It’s a better driving and more special feeling thing than the Mercedes EQE SUV, more efficient and welcoming than an Audi Q8 E-Tron, although the BMW iX offers a better blend of luxury and utility.
What we like
The performance, handing and space inside. The Polestar 3 has a calming, luxurious environment and has a good range, especially in Long Range Single Motor form which is claimed to stretch to 438 miles between charges.
What we don’t like
The Performance Pack is too firm and the boot is small for this class of car. Too many minor functions are buried in the touchscreen; a few more buttons for things like the heating and adjusting door mirrors would go a long way to ironing out some ergonomic wrinkles.
