The controls are easy to use although the handbrake resembles the throttle from an aircraft and takes a bit of getting used to if you drive other cars too. The six-speed gearbox needs a slow or accurate change to feel slick. The ambience of a greenhouse-like cockpit is very appealing and, particularly in the better spec’d models, it’s a nice place to be.

If the front occupants are six footers, then the rear won’t offer much legroom. However, eager sunseekers will probably still squeeze themselves in. It is composed with the roof up, but the wind sometimes whistles at speed. Roof down, with the side windows up it is fairly draught free, although it gets more turbulent at motorway speeds.
