Petrol engines 32.6 mpg
  • Not cheap to run
  • No efficient hybrid or diesel engines available

Again, with just one engine and gearbox, Subaru Levorg Sport Tourer running costs are a simple matter. The fuel economy is a claimed 39.8mpg, but during our test we kept an eye on the trip computer and saw sub-30mpg even when driving very carefully indeed.

With CO2 emissions of 164g/km you can forget using the Levorg as a company car too; even if you can somehow convince your company to let you have one, Benefit-in-Kind tax is going to be painful.

While servicing isn’t going to break the bank and it’s unlikely to break down either, proximity to a local dealer could be an issue too as there aren’t a great number of Subaru dealerships across the UK and they’re often found in more rural locations. Ensure you live near the garage.

There’s no getting away from it: the Subaru Levorg Sport Tourer’s emissions are high. Even if you’re not concerned about being eco-friendly, this is going to affect running costs.

Basically, this is a petrol car with a relatively small engine and a fair bit of weight. In terms of CO2, you’re pumping out 164g/km.

  • A real Subaru strong point
  • No reported problems
  • Should continue to remain reliable in future

There’s very little reason to be concerned about Subaru Levorg Sport Tourer reliability. The firm is able to launch all its cars with a five-year warranty, which speaks volumes, but the reality is that it’s a company known for making cars which very rarely break.

They’re so tough and resilient that the firm struggles to tempt customers into newer vehicles, because even ten-year-old Subarus do the job very well indeed.

There haven’t been any major recalls of any of the firm’s products in the UK, which is another indicator that they’re doing something right.
