Fuel economy

Hybrid petrol engines 47.1 - 51.3 mpg
  • Petrol-hybrid yields low running costs
  • Strong residual values
  • Servicing plan available

Thanks to what Toyota calls its self-charging hybrid powertrain, the RAV4 boasts impressive fuel economy and low CO2 output, contributing to an impressively low BIK rating for company car drivers.

Toyota claims the RAV4 is capable of returning 48.7-49.5mpg which is impressive for a car with a 2.5-litre petrol engine, but the hybrid tech and ability to use battery power around town helps bring this figure up.

Similarly, this has a positive impact on CO2 emissions, with figures as low as 129g/km on front-wheel drive versions and only nudging up to 131g/km for the all-wheel drive model. This should help offset the relatively high price in the first place, as PCP costs can be pricey in terms of monthly payments.

Is the RAV4 reliable?

  • Superb reliability record
  • All-new platform for 2019
  • Five-year, 100,000-mile warranty

Toyota is renowned for the reliability of its cars and commercial vehicles, consistently delivering high scores in customer satisfaction surveys. And despite the RAV4 being based on an all-new platform, we expect it to be similarly dependable.

A five-year, 100,000-mile warranty is included as standard on the RAV4, with the battery covered for 10 years. This can be extended to 15 years provided the car has been regularly serviced at an approved Toyota main dealer.

As always, we take a read on the previous generation's recalls and the RAV4 comes through with flying colours, with zero recalls in its six-year production run.
