The Corsa scores the maximum five stars out of five in official crash tests. In order for the VXR to match this, Vauxhall had to incorporate special side airbags into its front bucket seats as side airbags are a must for a five-star safety rating. It also has electronic stability and traction control systems, which helps the driver regain control in emergency situations.
A tyre pressure warning system gives advanced notice of slow punctures.
The VXR makes do with the same boot dimensions and split folding rear seats as other Corsa models which means it’s average for the class. Unlike the rest of the range, however, it’s only available with a tyre repair kit to deal with punctures – the rear diffuser eliminating the space under the boot where a spare wheel would go. Boot space is made more useable by a removable false floor, which gives the boot two levels plus there are also numerous storage features within the cabin including a storage tray beneath the passenger seat.

Euro NCAP provides motoring consumers with a realistic and independent assessment of the safety performance of some of the most popular cars sold in Europe. The safety ratings are determined from a series of vehicle tests, designed and carried out by Euro NCAP. These tests represent, in a simplified way, important real life accident scenarios that could result in injured or killed car occupants or other road users.
