Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 24 - 44 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Zafira is a wanted vehicle and this strong demand keeps residuals up. The Astra-based mechanicals are affordable and easy to maintain, plus fuel economy is good for all engines. The frugal diesel 2.0-litre DTi achieves 44mpg, which is impressive for a seven-seater. Insurance groups are average for the class, with the exception of the GSi, beginning at group 5 for the 1.6-litre.

Zafira is not particularly environmentally friendly. With an average of 191 g/km CO2 across the line-up, its emissions are fairly standard for a people carrier. The range is not very frugal, averaging 34 mpg.

Thankfully, there haven’t been any major problems reported by Parker’s users. Buyers should check for a few minor problems – such as trim issues, excessive oil consumption and notchy gearboxes – before purchasing, but otherwise it is very durable.
