Knowledgable car person who understands quality over badge image.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Not much as it was not well known. After being in it they were amazed. 15 plus years on my friends still talk abot the car with fond memories.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Without hesitattion. I have owneed 2 Subarus back to back and both were utterly reliable and cost very little to run outside of fuel.
What are you likely to buy next?
I bought a brand new classic Impreza Turbo.

Did you get a good deal and why?
Yeah they took in my terrible Rover 220 GTI and the Legacy only cost me a couple of grand on top.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Understated performance from brand with reputation for reliability.
What was the dealer like?
Very good. Had been a Rover and Subaru franchised dealer.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Awesome ! Turbo charged quad cam flat 4 engine sounds superb and pulls like and express train. Despite being a large car it was nimble and very responsive. A real drivers car and a joy to drive. Short trips out to the shops often involved detours acorss twisty country roads.
What's it like to park?
OK boot spoiler could make things tricky if you can't judge you cars size well.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Clutch wore out and Sunroof strip perished. Car never broke down once. Legendary reliability and built like a tank but flew like and express train.
What's most practical about your car?
Subarus 4WD system make most others look like a joke. This car can get up hills in snow that land rovers cannot. Traction and roadhandling are simply sublime for a car of this size.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Whole car was great. I traded it in for a new Impreza turbo but then tried to buy it back as well as it was such a good car. Did love the trademake Subaru frameless windows.
