  • Summary

    3 out of 5 3.0

What does this car say about you?

That you couldn't afford an Impreza.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They mostly think its nice, but plain.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, simply because there's so many other cars i want to try, so i won't have time to buy another of one model that i've already owned.

What are you likely to buy next?

I've actually just brought a Toyota Paseo, which fits my criteria of rare, nice, fun and yet affordable. So the Legacy is going to be up for sale next week.

    November 2006

Yup, for £500 i really don't think its possible to get much more car than this. 2.0l engine and 4WD, in good cond with average miles.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I need something as a cheap temp car to get me out of a fix. But it need to be something different, ie not a Ford

Small garage, not a lot else to say here.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Its fine round town and capable on motorways, but it really feels alive the most on the windy B roads. Acceleration from standstill isn't as quick as you'd hope, but the mid range from 40-70mph is brilliant, useful for overtaking. Hills don't oppose much of a problem either, as the car goes over them as if they weren't there. But the most fun part is the handling, there is a tiny bit of understeer, but overall the car does corner well. Being 4WD the grip is spot on, and the car sticks to the road, though that said i have discoved that if you want to have some fun, and you have an open space (ie not a public road), its very easy to throw the car into nice slides.

    What's it like to park?

A bit of a sod at first, as its a big car. Though i have now got used to it. Though problems still occour as sometimes i find car parks where the bay's aren't actually as long as the car!

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

The front drive shaft gaiters need doing, which set me back £180 inc vat and labour. To be fair i could have got them done cheaper, but the garage i normally use couldn't fit me in for a few weeks.

What's most practical about your car?

The space. Its got good legroom and headroom, in the front and back. And a fairly large boot.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Well the gadgets on a car of this age are somewhat limited. There's electric windows, which go up and down....and.....uh, well there's four of them!
