Audi A3 Phev verdict
2025 onwards
(change model)

What we like
We like the A3 TFSI e’s new plug-in hybrid powertrain. It’s smoother than before, but importantly is considerably more efficient courtesy of its larger battery, which delivers up to a real-world electric range of around 65 miles, while low CO2 emissions make it a superb company car. The A3 also drives well and has a classy interior that mixes modern screens with physical switchgear very well.
What we don’t like
The list price of the Audi A3 is considerably more than the mechanically similar Volkswagen Golf e-Hybrid, though it is worth comparing the leasing deals available for them both, because the A3’s better residual values can help to minimise the difference. The PHEV’s boot is also small, and might be just a bit too tight for family duties.
