There’s an air of sophistication inside the Audi thanks to soft touch materials and a stylish design. The switchgear has a simple layout, which, combined with clear dials, superb build quality and good visibility make the A4 great to live with. The driving position is a touch high though while the long-travel clutch can be tiring after a while, but these are only minor gripes and overall the A4s interior is a match for its German rivals.

The A4 is slightly more spacious than the car it replaces and the front seats are more supportive too. Under thigh support could be better and rear passengers will find legroom a little tight – in fact with the drivers’ seat fully back it is virtually non-existent, but headroom is good. Thanks to excellent noise insulation and a refined ride, it is extremely comfortable.
