What are the running costs?
Running costs will vary by model, but all versions of the A6 Avant E-Tron promise long range and high efficiency. Even the base version offers up to 364 miles, while the Performance version claims 437 miles – one of the longest driving ranges in the segment. We achieved an easy 350 miles on UK motorways in summer conditions.
Company car drivers will be pleased to know that the A6 Avant E-Tron sits in the lowest Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax band, making it a cost-effective choice for fleets despite its high list price.
Charging is fast across the board. The standard car tops out at 225kW, while higher-end models take up to 270kW – enough for a 10-to-80% charge in around 21 minutes. Home charging will obviously take longer, but the car supports up to 11kW AC as standard.
Servicing and warranty
The A6 Avant E-Tron is covered by Audi’s standard three-year warranty, with the option to extend for a fee. The battery pack is warrantied for eight years or 100,000 miles.
Audi’s dealer network is extensive, and most sites now offer full EV servicing and support. Fixed-price service plans are available, which can help spread the cost – and you’ll need fewer service visits overall than a petrol or diesel equivalent.
Tyre wear and brake servicing might be a touch higher than average due to the car’s weight, especially on Quattro versions. Still, overall maintenance costs should be lower than ICE rivals.
Reliability
- Limited long-term data
- Familiar platform
- Some cabin concerns
As the A6 Avant E-Tron is based on the same platform as the Q6 E-Tron and Porsche Macan EV, there’s confidence in its basic underpinnings. That said, it’s still a new model with little long-term data to go on.
Software has been a sticking point for some early Audi EVs, but most issues have been ironed out – and over-the-air updates should help with any future glitches. It’s still something to keep in mind, though.
Build quality is generally good, but the presence of cheap plastics in the cabin might raise questions over longevity – especially given the premium price point. We’ll update this section once we have more UK owner feedback.
