Audi says it aims for ergonomic perfection when it comes to interior layout and for the driver of the A6 Allroad this is certainly the case. The dials and switches are easy to use and well placed and it’s a pleasing environment to be in. The MMI (Multi Media Interface) – an on-board computer that controls the sat-nav, stereo and climate control – can be fiddly for first time users but is easy enough to master.

The handbrake is also replaced by a button – pull it up to engage the brake and touch the accelerator to release it.

Superb sound insulation means the Allroad is a very quiet car at speed and is comfortable too with lots of room up front and adequate head and leg room for two adults in the back. The excellent seats help, offering great support and comfort for motorway trips while the adaptive air suspension can be changed to give a more comfortable ride. The interior materials look good and feel good with some stylish touches, such as chrome-ringed instruments and classy wood inlays.
