Verdict

The Aveo is aimed at trying to secure Chevrolet a piece of the lucrative small car market and it’s a vast improvement over the previous generation. It drives well and is refined for a car of its size, although it isn't as involving as some of the competition. Despite being a small car it feels comfortable on the motorway and soaks up the bumps without issue. At first glance not much looks to have changed outside but a raft of new details result in a more modern appearance. Inside, features have been carried over from other models in the range such as the Cruze and Orlando. It feels well built with plenty of neat touches and there’s lots of room, even for taller drivers. The Aveo is ideal for buyers who are looking for cost-effective motoring thanks to its low price, sensible running costs and Chevrolet’s five-year warranty. Can the Aveo offer serious competition to well-established cars from Korea and Europe, or is it merely an interesting oddity? Read on to find out.
