Ford Focus ECOnetic: First thoughts

The popular Ford Focus

The Ford Focus is a hugely popular model and you would be hard pushed to go a day without seeing one on the roads.

This latest model - facelifted in 2008 - has a much sleeker look on the outside with a better quality cabin and despite it being a very common car I really like the look of it.

The Econetic model was also introduced in 2008 and with emissions of 115g/km it costs just £35 a year to tax.

As well as the tax saving, the it should also achieve an impressive 66mpg, which - if it gets anywhere near - will be useful as I have plenty of long distance journeys planned in the coming months.

Added extras

I've gone for the few optional extras including the Communications Pack, which at £1,000 is a little pricey, but includes satellite navigation, Bluetooth and an auxiliary input so you can just plug in your iPod and not have to worry about filling the car with CDs that get scratched or lost.

I've also chosen rear parking sensors and the quickclear heated windscreen which should come in handy when the temperature starts to drop.

So the Focus Econetic appears impressive on paper, now I just need to see if performs as well as it looks....
