Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 37 - 47 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Thanks to the frugal engine, low insurance groups and affordable Ford servicing and parts, the Ka is predictably inexpensive to run. There is good fuel economy on the 1.3-litre, though the SportKa likes a little drink if you’re overly enthusiastic with it. Depreciation is reasonably good on all but the top-spec models.

The Ka’s 1.3-litre is getting on now and this shows in its green credentials. It emits 147g/km of C02 (154g/km in models with air con) which is above average compared to most rivals. The Ka is fairly economical though and averages around 45mpg.

It’s been around for a while now and the Ka has generally been mechanically reliable with problems usually confined to minor niggles. Repairs are reasonably cheap, while parts are readily available and straightforward to fit.
