The XK Convertible is loaded with safety equipment, including a pair of rollover bars behind the back seats that pop-up if the vehicle ends up on its roof after a collision. There’s no Euro NCAP crash rating but side airbags for the driver and front passenger are combined head and chest airbags which deploy from the seats to ensure they are in the optimum position.
The front of the car is also designed to cause less damage when hitting a pedestrian, and the bonnet pops up to minimise serious head injuries.
The back seats are really only for show – there’s pretty much no way they can actually be used. However they do provide extra storage for luggage if it doesn’t fit in the boot. The load are itself is very shallow and once the roof is lowered, it’s even smaller – but it will still cope with a weeks worth of shopping, just not large or boxy items. Stowage up front is reasonable with a decent-sized glovebox and a deep central cubby (between the seats) that also houses two cupholders.
The roof is totally automatic and operated by a single button, folding down in just 18 seconds behind a flush fitting aluminium cover.
