Should you buy a one?

The Kia e-Niro is a thoroughly excellent electric car and one we recommend highly. We always have, in fact – the e-Niro came runner-up in our Electric Car of the Year award for 2020 and 2021 – but this facelifted model moves things on further, making a very good car even better.

What we like

Driving range is of course the e-Niro’s standout feature, with an ultra-long range that’s actually achievable in normal driving. It’s for this reason we wouldn’t recommend opting for the lower-priced, short-range model, as it loses one of the car’s most compelling selling points.

It’s also a very spacious and family-friendly car, though. A big boot, room for the kids and lots of thoughtful touches to make family life easy mean this could easily replace your regular family transport.

The e-Niro isn’t as flashy as some rivals in the showroom, but its quiet competence will certainly prove very easy and pleasant to live with.

What we don’t like

It doesn’t have the prestige of a Tesla Model 3, nor is it as eye-catching welcoming inside as a Skoda Enyaq iV. Nor is it particularly cheap – while purchase price is in-line with rivals, Kia’s finance aren’t as competitive as some of its rivsls.

However, if you can find a good deal, the Kia e-Niro is without a doubt one of the very best electric cars on the market today.
