There’s a range of active and passive systems installed to make Kia Proceed GT safety fairly par-for-the-course compared to most modern cars. The Proceed has a five-star EuroNCAP crash test rating, which should offer some extra peace of mind.

You get stability control along with hill-start assist to prevent you rolling backwards so you don’t have to juggle handbrake, clutch and accelerator. A tyre pressure monitoring system is on hand along with emergency stop signalling (which flashes the indicators when an emergency stop is performed).

There are six airbags, ISOFIX child seat lashing points in the rear and doors which unlock automatically in the event of a crash.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Kia Proceed GT practicality levels are identical to the regular Proceed. There’s a fair amount of space available inside the car, and accessing the rear isn’t as difficult as you’d expect considering it’s a three-door car.

You may struggle in car parks though since the doors are rather long so opening them wide enough to get in and out is more of a challenge if there are cars parked alongside.

The boot space is 380 litres, shrinking to 362 litres with the temporary spare wheel in place. The rear seats fold down in a 60:40 configuration to offer more load space, and when the rear seats are folded completely down there’s a maximum of 1,225 litres on offer.

There are also storage compartments in the front, rear and centre console.
