Looking for a reliable family car with low running costs? Search through thousands of Toyota Auris for sale on Parkers now to buy a genuinely capable, trustworthy used hatchback. Originally introduced as a replacement for the Corolla in 2007, the Auris is an efficient three- or five-door family hatchback with some unusually advanced technology; in 2012 the second-generation Auris introduced a sharper design and the option of a Touring Sports estate. Although any used Toyota Auris is likely to offer affordable motoring, the clever Hybrid Synergy Drive hybrid from 2010-on can significantly cut costs. Less complexity is offered in the range of diesel and petrol engines offered on the Auris before 2012; the most recentl used and nearly-new Toyota Auris hatchback and Touring Sports are more likely to feature the 1.8-litre hybrid, though there’s an option of 1.2-litre petrol turbo. All models of Auris are dependable, well-made cars that are worth searching for with Parkers cars for sale.

If there’s one name most widely associated with Toyota it’s the long running Corolla, so it was surprising when the firm dropped the name when it introduced the 2007 replacement; the Toyota Auris.

The first generation model was certainly spacious, with a neatly integrated centre console and high-mounted transmission and plenty of space in the back – the flat floor ensuring there’s ample foot space for three rear passengers. Even the boot’s a reasonable 354 litres, while folding the 60/40 split rear bench flat is a one-touch operation.

Throughout its lifetime the first-generation Auris’ engine line-up consisted of 1.33, 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8-litre petrol models alongside 1.4 and 2-litre diesels. Top of the range was the 2.2-litre diesel with 180bhp, but despite the power figure it could never be considered a bona fide hot-hatch.
