Ford Ranger Raptor dimensions (2024)

The Ford Ranger Raptor is a big vehicle and its modifications make it feel larger. This doesn’t translate into it being a really practical truck, though, with its size holding it back in some areas, as it impacts the amount of weight it can carry.

Despite this, it has just as much loading space as rival trucks so it can still take large loads if needs be.

Ford Ranger Raptor capacity & size

3.5 out of 5 3.5

The Ranger Raptor is as big as a Ford pickup truck gets – in the UK in any case. As the Raptor is the first Ranger of the current generation to be released, we don’t have the ability to compare like-for-like to see exactly how much bigger it is than the standard model. However, given those wheelarches and bespoke bumpers are going to be larger than the standard version, it is a fair assumption that it is going to be longer and wider all round, while the raised ride height means it will be taller too.

Ford Ranger Raptor loading bay

The loading bay might not be able to carry as much weight as other pickups, but it still offers a decent amount of space.

  • Maximum load width: 1,224mm

Ford Ranger Raptor payload, weight & towing

3 out of 5 3.0

Payload is the Ford Ranger Raptor’s Achilles heel. Because it is so heavy, and because the rear suspension is calibrated for covering fields at a rapid pace rather than hauling heavy loads, it has a payload that is far beneath that of almost every other pickup truck.

Ford Ranger Raptor payload

The Ford Ranger Raptor’s payload is poor compared to every other pickup truck you can buy in the UK. For tax reasons, pickups have to have a 1,000kg payload to qualify for commercial vehicle status and to therefore get the associated tax benefits.

This makes the Ford Ranger Raptor’s 652kg payload pitiful by comparison. This is an improvement on the first generation, which could only carry 620kg, but it is not enough to make a difference.

The weight means that it is only able to tow 2,500kg too, which is below the 3,500kg that most trucks offer.
