Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 39 - 68 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Vauxhall Zafira Tourer running costs are pretty low consdiering the size of it. Opt for the 2.0-litre CDTI 163bhp with stop/start and you could average a claimed 62.8mpg. This is the most frugal in the range while the least economic is the 1.8-litre petrol model at 39.2mpg. Even the 163bhp will average a claimed 54.3mpg – which isn’t terrible for the most powerful engine in the range.

Vauxhall Zafira Tourer emissions are low thanks to a dedicated ECOflex model, which was offered with the 129bhp diesel engine. This is the cleanest model in the range with emissions of 119g/km of CO2. This version comes with the usual tools to make it better for the planet including stop/start, low-rolling resistance tyres and brake regeneration technology.

All this makes it one of the cleanest seven-seaters available. The most powerful diesel and 1.4-litre petrol model also get stop/start meaning emissions for the two models are 139g/km and 148g/km respectively.

Vauxhall Zafira Tourer reliability hasn’t historically been brilliant. Unfortunately, the previous model did have some problems in its lifetime, although most of these were small niggles rather than big issues. Hopefully those issues will have been ironed out and with the 100,000-mile or lifetime warranty; anything that goes wrong will be covered.
