How much space is there?
One of the main reasons you’d choose the ID.7 Tourer over the hatchback is space, and it delivers. In the front, there’s ample head and legroom, and the driving position suits a wide range of drivers thanks to generous seat and steering wheel adjustment. Taller drivers will appreciate the extendable seat bases, which support longer legs.
Rear passenger space is another strength. Even with the front seats pushed back, adults have enough knee and headroom to travel in comfort. The flat floor means there’s no awkward hump in the middle, so three people can sit across the rear bench without too much compromise. Compared with a BMW i5 Touring, the VW feels only slightly narrower.
Families will like how easy it is to fit child seats, with wide-opening rear doors and Isofix points that are clearly marked. Overall, it’s more practical than a Tesla Model 3 or Hyundai Ioniq 6, but not quite as cavernous as a Passat Estate.

Boot capacity is excellent at 605 litres with the seats up, extending to 1,714 litres when folded. The seats drop via levers in the boot, although they don’t §quite fold flat. That’s more space than a BMW i5 Touring and way ahead of a Peugeot E-308 SW.
The boot floor is wide and square, making it easy to load bulky items. The load lip is relatively low for an EV, but it’s still higher than you’d find in a petrol or diesel estate. Extra touches like hooks and a 12-volt socket make it a useful space.
Interior storage is decent too. You get a large glovebox, generous door bins and a deep cubby under the armrest. Two cupholders sit between the front seats and there’s space for phones with wireless charging.
Is it easy to park?
For such a big car, the ID.7 Tourer is easy to park. Large windows give a good view out, and the standard-fit reversing camera is clear and helpful. Parking sensors front and rear are included, and higher-spec models add a 360-degree camera that makes tight manoeuvres less stressful.
The car can also park itself using Volkswagen’s Park Assist Plus. It works well for parallel and bay parking, although it still needs a confident driver to monitor its progress.

The ID.7 achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating when tested in 2023, with adult occupant protection at 95% and child protection at 88%. Those are excellent results and put it ahead of many rivals, including the Tesla Model 3.
All versions are packed with active safety features. Adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring are standard, as are Matrix LED headlights that automatically dip for oncoming traffic. The car even warns if you’re about to open a door into passing traffic.
Driver assistance systems work smoothly and take the edge off long journeys. The augmented-reality head-up display projects navigation and speed info clearly into your eyeline, helping you keep your focus on the road.
