Renault launches sportier Meganes

  • Sporty GT and GT Line added to Megane range
  • The GT Line option pack adds £1,290 to the starting price
  • Prices for the Megane Hatch start from £21,910

Renault has introduced the GT trim level and the GT Line option pack to the current Megane range.

The GT and the GT Line stand out due to their sporty styling cues, both inside and out.

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the new trim level and option pack will be available across the whole Megane family and will go on sale in June.

The range-topping GT trim is available with the 2.0 TCe 180 and 2.0 dCi 160. Both models combine a sporty looking exterior and interior with a specially-tuned chassis that takes its inspiration from the Mégane Renaultsport 250

GT versions will come with GT grille badging and GT Renault Sport badging on the tailgate. It will also have 18-inch alloys, while the GT theme will continue on the inside. The dashboard and front headrests will all be badged GT, while the door sills will carry the Renault Sport name (except the Coupe-Cabriolet version).

The GT Line is an option pack available on Mégane Dynamique versions. They feature a specific chassis and are powered by the Mégane's core range of economical engines.

Three engines are available on the Megane GT Line. There are three petrol units to choose from: the 16V 1.6-litre 110, the 2.0-litre TCe 130 and the 16V 2.0-litre 140, which is mated to a CVT gearbox.

There's also three diesel engines available: the  dCi Reanult eco2 106, a dCi DPF Renault eco2 110 with Renault's new dual dlutch gearbox and there's also the dCi eco 130 with the six-speed manual gearbox.

Prices for the Megane Coupe in GT trim will start from £22,410, the Megane Hatch in GT will be priced from £21,910 and the Sport Tourer will start from £22,910.

The GT Line option pack will add an extra £1,290 to the price of the Mégane Dynamique versions of Coupe, Hatch and Sport Tourer.
