Special edition MINI for £41k

  • Collaboration between MINI and Rolls-Royce
  • Uses same 1.6-litre 184bhp engine of Cooper S
  • Limited run of 1,000 cars to arrive in March 2012

MINI has revealed a special edition hatchback model in collaboration with Rolls-Royce with the catchy title of 'MINI Inspired by Goodwood'.

Limited to just 1,000 cars, the car apparently blends the luxury of Rolls-Royce with the unmistakable MINI driving experience. How delightful.

While it is unmistakably a MINI hatchback, the Rolls-Royce team has added a touch of flair to the interior and exterior to give the car luxurious charisma and high-quality ambience, says the marketing blurb.

Inside the car you get the dashboard, central console, air vents, carpets, heated lounge leather seats, roof lining, doors and interior cladding decked out in a exclusive Rolls-Royce colour. Then there's the splash of walnut - it wouldn't be a Rolls-Royce without some premium wood around the cabin. You also get cashmere roof linings, sun visors and rear storage trays. Finally, the floor mats are deep-pile lambswool. Nice.

On the outside the car comes finished in another Rolls-Royce exclusive colour called Diamond black metallic (so black, then). It also comes with 17-inch five spoke alloys.

To go along with all the luxurious fit and finish, potential customers are treated to the 1.6-litre petrol engine with 184bhp that's also found in the MINI Cooper S (which costs just £17,640).

There is also a decent amount of kit in the pimped-up MINI including Xenon Adaptive Headlights, Park Distance Control, automatic air conditioning, an onboard computer, MINI Navigation and the audio system Radio MINI Visual Boost, which includes the Harman Kardon hi-fi speaker system.

The first of this limited run of cars will arrive in March 2012, with prices starting at an eye-watering £41,000.
