A rare opportunity has arisen for an ambitious motoring journalist to join the Parkers team as staff writer.

Parkers is an extremely successful automotive brand with a range of multi-media products. The award-winning website is ranked by Hitwise as being one of the UK’s leading destinations for UK car buyers and Parkers is Bauer Media’s most successful online brand.

What is the job?

The range of tasks includes:
• Writing car reviews and first drives
• Working up news stories and features
• Assisting other team members to help update reviews and valuations
• Creating newsletters
• Ensuring site content is current and correct
• Building up your industry contacts
• Accruing an in-depth knowledge of modern cars
• Knowing car buyers better than they know themselves
• Being a social media and digital champion

What skills are needed?

• A clear and accurate writing style
• The capacity to write for online and print
• Ability to spot jargon, clichés and PR fluff instantly
• A strong grasp of all forms of digital media
• How to use social media to create user engagement
• A good understanding of mainstream UK car buyers
• A passion for cars is also very desirable.

Who are we looking for?

You will have either started out in motoring journalism or you might be looking for your first break. You are likely to obsess about cars and the world of digital media in equal measure and you’re massively keen to build a career in motoring journalism. You will be very organised, thrive on pressure and enjoy working to deadlines. Bags of enthusiasm and willingness to get involved in new projects are essential traits.
