Top 5 estate cars 03 August 2015 by Parkers Skoda Superb estate most roomy for the money Mercedes-Benz E-Class offers most carrying capacity Volvo V70 DRIVe offers lowest emissions in its class Details of BMW's new 5 Series Touring have just been announced, but the range doesn't go on sale until September. In the meantime, what are the five best estate cars on the market for company car drivers? Company Car Driver has come up with its top five list of cars which blend space, economy and desirability. 1. Skoda Superb Quite simply, a huge amount of car for the money, with Superb estate prices starting at £18,000. Very few cars in this sector offer as much room in the cabin, while the boot space is enormous - 633 litres in standard format, rising to 1,865 with the rear seats folded down. 2. Volvo V70 Not as roomy inside as the Superb (560/1,670 litres), but the V70 is a well built, stylish estate car. And in its new low emission DRIVe guise, it offers amazingly low CO2 emissions of just 119g/km, putting it in the lowest diesel BIK banding. Don't be put off by the 1.6-litre engine - it's adequate for the job. 3. Ford Focus If outright luggage volume isn't a pre-requisite, the Focus estate offers practical load carrying ability in a smaller car. The ECOnetic model drops CO2 emissions to just 104g/km, meaning the lowest diesel BIK band for the next two tax years. The only downside is that a new, much more stylish model is due early next year. 4. Mercedes-Benz E-Class The daddy when it comes to load space. The new E-Class estate offers 695 litres of load space, rising to 1,950 litres - figures which would not be out of place in a van brochure. New range features a broad array of low emission diesel engines and a full suite of safety gizmos including a warning system if the car detects driver drowsiness. 5. Audi A6 Avant The oldest car in the executive sector, which means Audi is being somewhat generous when it comes to sales incentives. Take the new Le Mans special trim which adds satellite navigation, 19-inch alloys, leather seats, CD changer and metallic paint. Prices start at £31,000 for an A6 Avant 2.0 TDI 170 version.
