Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 26 - 42 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Whether you’re buying new or used, the Sedona is great value and you certainly get plenty of car for your money. The petrol is best avoided if you want to keep costs down as it’s thirsty and expensive to tax. Kia servicing is generally good value and insurance is competitive with other people carriers of this size at group 12 for the GS and group 13 for LS and TS models.

The Sedona is quite a polluting model, with an average of 226g/km CO2 across the line-up. The petrol is the worst culprit, emitting 255g/km of CO2, making road tax expensive. The more popular diesel emits 206g/km of CO2 (with the manual gearbox) and returns a respectable 36mpg, although this drops to 32mpg when you choose the automatic.

Kia has a good reputation for reliability and the Sedona has proved to be a trouble free car. In January 2010 the standard warranty was upped from three years to seven years, giving great peace of mind.
