Some (don't) like it hot

The last week of July and the first week of August have highlighted one of this MINI’s weaknesses. Although not quite hot enough for ‘Phew What A Scorcher’ headlines in the tabloids, the weather’s been very good and the temperature has often been between 25 and 28 degrees.

This has been a problem for the MINI, as the full-length glass sunroof and large side windows turn the MINI into a mobile greenhouse and, unfortunately, the-built in blind doesn’t provide much in the way of protection. Of course you can open the roof and on warm days - it's really pleasant to have fresh air swooshing around inside. But on the hottest days of the year, it just lets more warm air into the car.

And, after an initial thumbs-up from those in the back, the first complaints have started to surface. Even with the air conditioning on its coldest setting and on full Arctic blast, it’s not powerful enough to cool those in the back on seriously hot days. Couple that with fixed rear windows and you can see how it can quickly become uncomfortable in the back.

But, thanks to the British weather, that should only be a problem for say – ohh – two days a year.
