- Seven trim levels across the Clio range
- DAB radio and Bluetooth standard on all models
- Various personalisation options available
There’s a model for most tastes within the Clio line-up, from the attractively-priced entry-level model to the performance flagship, with increasing levels of luxury in between.
Standard Renault Clio hatchback equipment
Entry-point for Clio ownership is the familiar Expression trim level, but it’s far from being basic in terms of its kit count.
Its wheels are 15-inches and steel rather than alloy, but they’re garnished with attractive wheel trims and are complemented by grained black plastic bodywork protection appliques. Up front are LED day-running lights set into the lower elements of the bumper.
Inside you’ll find DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity and the R&Go app for your smartphone to allow further connectivity with your Clio.
Additionally there’s cruise control, hill start assist, remote central locking with a dash-mounted starter button and electric control for the front windows and door mirrors.
Next up is Play, which adds 16-inch chrome-finished alloy wheels, front foglights, variable speed wipers and – arguably most importantly – air conditioning.
The most popular of the Clio’s trims is Dynamique Nav, which significantly ramps up the levels of equipment. Outside, there’s gloss black and chrome detailing in place of the grained plastic finishes, as well as automatic lights and wipers.
Climb aboard, taking advantage of the keyless entry, to notice the 7.0-inch multimedia screen that includes sat-nav, soft-touch dashboard materials and faux leather wrapping for the steering wheel.
Dynamique S Nav is the next rung up the Clio ladder but that extra letter adds a significant amount of equipment: the exterior’s hallmarked by 17-inch alloys with a black finish, more chrome detailing and full LED head and tail lights. The door mirrors also fold electrically.
Inside there’s climate control for the air-con, a front centre armrest, electric rear windows and a genuine leather wrap for the steering wheel.
Topping the Clio hierarchy from a luxury perspective is Signature Nav featuring an upgraded R-Link multimedia system including 12 months’ TomTom live updates and app store, body-side sensors with a reversing camera and self-parking function and a leather interior with heated front seats.
First of the sporty offerings is the Renaultsport 200 with a standard equipment level that places it in the upper echelons of the Clio range.
The 7.0-inch multimedia system with sat-nav is there, as are cruise control, keyless entry and start, hill start assist, launch control for rapid getaways, full LED lights front and rear, rear privacy glass and a bodykit. Chrome-look 17-inch alloy wheels complete the picture.
Interior features include air-con, automatic lights and wipers, all-round electric windows and a Renaultsport-specific leather steering wheel.
Progress on to the Renaultsport 220 Trophy and the changes are few but significant. As well as the stiffer suspension and quicker gearchanges, the wheels are stretched to 18 inches and are now black with red callipers visible through them and there’s a reversing camera to make parking that bit easier.
Climate control ousts the standard air-con while the multimedia package is the upgraded R-Link version.
Optional Renault Clio hatchback extras
Personalisation is a theme Renault’s keen to offer with the Clio, so in addition to a range of optional paint colours, you can also specify red or white exterior appliques (Exterior Touch pack), red, white, grey or black roof decals and red or grey interior trims (Interior Touch pack).
If you fancy something racier without the expense of a full-blooded Renaultsport engine, then the sporty GT-Line look pack might pique your interest with its purposeful appearance and silver exterior embellishments.
You can, of course, specify many items individually from the list of extra-cost options, but wherever possible we’d recommend considering the bundles for greater value for money:
- Climate Pack – climate control and electrically-folding door mirrors
- Horizon Pack – fixed glass panoramic roof and rear privacy glass
- Techno Pack – the upgraded R-Link multimedia system including 12 months of online services including TomTom live navigation
- Techno Pack Bose – like the Techno Pack with the addition of parking sensors all round, a reversing camera and a Bose speaker system
- Techno Pack Bose Premium – as above with the addition of an automatic self-parking system
- Techno Pack Premium – as Techno Pack with the addition of all-round parking sensors, a reversing camera and self-parking function
