The Skoda range is set to expand with the introduction of two all-new models in 2012.

Sources at Skoda state the first of the two will be a small family orientated city car based on the Volkswagen Up! concept car.

The Up! Concept is part of VW's NSF - or New Small Family - program which the German manufacturer hopes will provide products for small families. So far the car has only been seen in concept form with the company showing off a taxi version of the model.

Later on in the year there will be a hatchback pitching itself against the likes of the Ford Focus and Mazda3.

This model will slot in to the Skoda range between the Fabia and the Octavia, and is likely to share underpinnings with VW's latest Golf.

The new additions join the Yeti, Superb, facelifted Fabia and Octavia in the Skoda line-up.

There's no word on pricing, names or specific dates for any of the cars yet.
