2022 onwards (change model)
Parkers overall rating: 3.7 out of 53.7

Should you buy one?

Absolutely. Regular versions of the Grecale have the potential to outclass other premium SUVs on sale today while the Trofeo backs up Maserati’s supercar heritage.

The Grecale has a lot of space for passengers and luggage and the fancy screen-laden dash looks to be competitive enough with the German competition. It’s ultimately not quite as sweet to drive as a Porsche Macan, not as luxurious as a Range Rover Velar and the BMW X3 is a better all-round family wagon. But if you’d like a slightly more practical and exuberant Macan, it offers a brilliant alternative.

The Grecale Folgore adds another string to Maserati’s bow, securing the company’s future long after its much-loved petrol engines are put out to pasture in 2030 too.

What we like

The interior is tech-filled and so much better than Maseratis of old. It’s genuinely sporty to drive, rides well and unlike the Porsche Macan, the base model car may just be the pick of the bunch.

What we don’t like

MPG is not this car’s friend. Sure, it’s roughly the same as a Macan, but compared with more sensible SUVs it’s very thirsty. Interior quality looks fine, but we did see problems with our test cars. The exterior design is also a bit hit and miss, and some have even described it as anonymous looking.
