Nissan Qashqai: Queries and concerns

Your questions answered

I've had a few emails from potential Qashqai buyers recently about certain aspects or features of the Nissan. Here's a commonly-asked query one about the rear visibility...

How do you find the rear visibility?

As soon as I sat in the driver’s seat, one of my first concerns was about the size of the rear window. I thought that the high boot and narrow window would result in poor visibility and it does in certain respects – particularly when parking.

But my model is fitted with rear parking sensors, which I’ve become heavily reliant on. Without it, it’s tricky to judge the distance between the rear bumper and objects behind me when reversing.

All Qashqais, bar the entry-level Visia, come with sensors as standard. An upgrade from base-spec to Acenta trim costs around £1500, but you also get rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, a leather-covered steering wheel and gearknob and a six-CD autochanger for the extra money, too.

If you are concerned about the visibility – which isn’t a major issue, more of an aspect to be aware of – my advice would be to visit your nearest dealer and take one for a test drive. I think the Qashqai’s many positives will outweigh this niggle by far and you can always go for a better-equipped model if it’s still a concern.
