Should you buy a Toyota Yaris Hatchback?

While the Mk3 Yaris remains a good car, it's not one we would now recommend buying, unless you're able to negotiate a substantial discount or a very low monthly payment plan.

Why? Well, as we said at the beginning, as small hatchbacks, the Ford Fiesta, Peugeot 208 and Renault Clio are all superior to the Yaris in most respects, making each of them more desirable as a result. Plus, let's not forget, there's an all-new Toyota Yars due on sale by the end of 2020 that impressed us on our first encounter of it.

But, if your heart's set on this soon-to-be-replaced Yaris, we would steer you towards a Hybrid model for the greaest efficiency in the range for urban driving - where this Toyota makes the most sense - paired with the Y-20 Bi-tone trim level for the most interesting looks and a generous equipment roster. Not only does that net you the nattier two-tone finish, but also, two-tone 16-inch alloy wheels, darkened rear privacy glass, automatic wipers and cruise control.
