What are the Ford Ranger's dimensions and specs? We've got the exterior and load area details for every body variant of the version sold since 2011 listed right here on this page, along with full payload and towing capacity information.
The Ford Ranger's cargo bed is substantially sized, and its towing and payload ratings are right at the top of the 1.0-tonne pickup truck class.
It comes in three body sizes as standard: Regular Cab (single cab), Super Cab (crew cab) and Double Cab.
Those looking for something more individual can specify a chassis cab option, with no pickup bed, for building their own custom Ranger variants.
For information about trim levels, standard equipment, driving experience and engines see our Ford Ranger review by clicking on the tab above.
The Ford Ranger comes in a choice of three different body styles, called Regular Cab (aka single cab), Super Cab (aka extened cab or crew cab) and Double Cab. The first two offer less space in the cabin and maximise the load bay to boost practicality for those that need their Ranger to do a hardier day’s work.
What are the Ford Ranger's exterior dimensions?
Our table lists the dimensions of every Ford Ranger variant (figures for the 2019-on update versions):

What size is the Ford Ranger's load bay area?
The amount of space you get in the Ranger’s load bed is very much dependent on the model you go for, with the Regular Cab, Super Cab and Double Cab all offering different lengths, as you'd expect.
All models measure 1,139mm between the arches, which means you shouldn't have any problem fitting a Euro-pallet in the back. You'll need a forklift though, as all the four-wheel drive models have a loading height of 835mm.
The tailgate does fold completely flat, making access to the cargo bed easy, and there are fixing points to help secure any load.
What are the Ford Ranger's load bed dimensions?
Every version of the Ford Ranger compared for load area:
|Ford Ranger body type||Single Cab||Super Cab||Double Cab|
|Maximum load length (mm)||2,317||1,847||1,549|
|Maximum load width (mm)||1,560||1,560||1,560|
|Width between wheelarches (mm)||1,139||1,139||1,139|
|Sidewall height (mm)||511||511||511|
Details of the loading height can be found in the exterior dimensions table above.
Raptor models have the same bed area dimensions as standard Double Cab Rangers.
This is one tough truck. If you're looking for lots of payload capacity and strong towing ability, the Ford Ranger is well worth a look.
How much payload can the Ford Ranger carry?
The Ranger can handle payloads from 1,033kg to 1,269kg, depending on model and year; those figures are for the 2016-onwards Euro 6 models. The highest double cab payload rating of this era is 1,217kg, substantially more than most competitors.
The arrival of the 2.0-litre EcoBlue engines in 2019 and an associated increase in available equipment has had a negative impact on payload, though, as it now ranges from 1,024kg to 1,252kg
And that's without counting the Raptor performance model, which only manages 640kg.
The greatest a 2019-on Ranger Double Cab can carry is 1,140kg.
The maximum roof load, essential if you intend to equip the vehicle with roof-mounted storage, is rated at 80kg.
What is the towing capacity of the Ford Ranger?
The Ranger's towing capacity is also impressively immense, ranging from 1,800kg to 3,500kg for braked trailers; that's 1.8 tonnes to 3.5 tonnes.
On 2019-onwards versions, towing rating varies from 2,500kg to 3,500kg, whith only the very entry-level regular cab and the high performance Raptor failing to make the 3.5-tonne benchmark.
The unbraked towing weight is 750kg across the board.
