Honda is recalling its popular Jazz as faulty electrics could cause a fire.

The recall affects 171,372 UK Jazz models in the UK made between 2002 and 2008. World-wide the number of recalls for the Jazz will be nearer 646,000 cars.

The reason for the recall is the electric window switch in the driver's door, which if exposed to too much water, can prevent the window from opening and closing.

In extreme cases it can also lead to the switch overheating resulting in fire although this has not happened to any Jazz models in the UK.

The popular family hatchback was the best car for keeping its money for 2009 in the Parker's annual depreciation report.

Recalls will begin at the end of February with the relevant owners contacted as soon as possible by the company.

This is the latest manufacturer recall to be issued with Toyota recalling eight different models for accelerator pedal problems, while Citroen is recalling the C1 and Peugeot the 107 as both cars are affected by the same potential problem.
