Nissan has launched a lower emission version of its popular Qashqai range.

On sale now, the new Pure Drive model is powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel engine as before but a series of improvements to the aerodynamics and a revised gearbox with a longer top ratio for more relaxed cruising, have lowered CO2 emissions from 137g/km to 129g/km.

As a result, the Qashqai Pure Drive drops by one benefit-in-kind tax band and will be taxed at 18% of its list price from April 1.

The Pure Drive version is only available in five-seat Visia trim, priced at £16,795.

The introduction of the new lower emission model coincides with a revamp of Nissan's popular crossover range, with styling updates inside and out, a more comfortable ride and ESP stability control now standard across the range.
