Three new low emission SEATs offering drivers the lowest possible diesel benefit-in-kind tax rates are now available .

Leading the pack is the Leon Ecomotive, which uses a 1.6-litre TDI diesel engine allied to brake energy recovery, gearshift indicator, improved aerodynamics and stop-start systems to reduce CO2 emission levels to 99g/km and raise fuel economy of 74.3mpg.

The former figure means the Leon will be taxed at 13% of its P11D price for the next three tax years, while the latter figure promises a range of almost 900 miles between fill-ups.

Also making their debuts this week are Ecomotive versions of the Altea and Altea XL.

These models share the same 1.6 TDI engine but do without the improved aerodynamics but still return 62mpg economy and emit 119g/km, placing them in the lowest diesel BIK tax banding for the next two years.

All three models are available in S and SE trim level, with standard equipment including air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, electric windows all round, stereo with MP3 plug in, tyre pressure monitoring and a full suite of safety systems such as ABS brakes and ESP stability and traction control.

Prices start at £16,840 for the Leon Ecomotive S.
