Mazda has announced extremely favourable company car tax rates for its new 6 model, without scrimping on power.

Based around the company’s SKYACTIV infrastructure, the new Mazda6 uses a 2.2-litre diesel engine or a 2.0-litre petrol engine. Both of the engines are available with a choice of two power outputs.

The difference between the Mazda offering and other low-tax company cars is that the Japanese car doesn’t have to make do with a power deficit.

Thanks to twin-turbocharging, the diesel offering can be had with either 148bhp or 173bhp. Diesel models are expected to account for around 90% of sales.

The former output is the most efficient, with CO2 emissions of 108g/km. In SE Nav trim its P11d value is £22,340, which equates to company car tax of £55 per month on the 20% pay scale and £111 per month on the 40% scale.

Fuel economy is a claimed 67.3mpg on the combined cycle, so we’d expect 55mpg to be possible in real-world driving. In this specification the Mazda6 will sprint from 0-62mph in 9.1 seconds.

Equipment for SE Nav models includes sat-nav, 17-inch alloys, daytime running lights, stability and traction control systems, cruise control, air-con, Bluetooth handsfree connectivity and a 5.8-inch colour touchscreen display.

Mazda Head of Fleet Steve Tomlinson said “The all-new Mazda6 is the no compromise choice for company car drivers. They can have power, performance and driving fun with low emissions and excellent fuel economy due to our SKYACTIV technology.”

“On top of all that company car drivers save themselves money with the 2.2-litre SKYACTIV-D 148bhp engine powering the all-new Mazda6, having the lowest CO2 emissions figure in the class.”

The Mazda6 will be available in showrooms in January, in either saloon or estate bodystyles and with a choice of six trim levels.
