Jaguar is set to unveil an all new XF saloon that will go on sale in late 2015.

The British company is already hinting that the XF will be lightweight to enhance not only its handling characteristics but also its fuel efficiency and low emissions.

Lightweight and agile

Given the company’s expertise in manufacturing cars from aluminium it’s a safe bet that the XF will feature the latest construction techniques as used in the production of the all new XE saloon.

So the XF will feature a largely aluminium construction and will be completely new from the ground up. It’s also possible that the XF will feature the new Double Wishbone and Integral Link suspension that features on the smaller XE that is designed to enhance handling and provide a smooth ride.

Low emissions and fuel efficient

Jaguar reckons the new XF will be capable of an average of 70mpg. This is likely to be helped by not only the lightweight construction but also the new Jaguar engines.

These include new diesel and petrol engines, with the diesel power likely to produce the lowest emissions and the best fuel efficiency. Gearboxes choice could come in the form of six-speed manuals and eight-speed automatics.

It’s also likely that the new XF range will feature a high-performance version powered by a 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine.

Full range of Jaguar’s driver aids

The XF will also feature much of Jaguar’s safety systems and driver aids including its All Surface Progress Control that helps find grip in slippery conditions, plus autonomous emergency braking and lane departure warning.

Drivers are also likely to be greeted by Jaguar’s new InControl Touch Infotainment system that features an eight-inch touch screen with ease to access functions including smart phone connection. This enables the driver to access smart phone functions and apps via the car’s touch screen.

The all new Jaguar XF will be unveiled on April 1st in New York, USA with trim levels, specifications and prices likely to be confirmed at the same time. In the meantime check out Parkers full Jaguar XF review here.
