Back in black – Audi’s A3, Q3 and TT gain Black Edition trim level

  • Audi launches Black Edition spec on A3 and Q3
  • Available with a wide range of existing engines
  • Additional kit includes upgraded styling pack

Audi has added the popular Black Edition trim level to the current-generation A3, Q3 and TT models for the first time. Other variants, including the S3, TTS, S6 (Saloon and Avant) and S7, are also set to be made available with the new premium spec.

All equipment or styling upgrades will come in addition those seen on S line specification cars, meaning goodies such as parking sensors, cruise control and sat-nav will be fitted as standard on all Black Edition cars.

Striking interior and exterior styling upgrades

For an extra £1,350 over S line trim, Audi A3 Black Edition drivers will benefit from:

  • Unique 18-inch matt titanium-look alloy wheels
  • Privacy glass
  • Black exterior highlights – including on the radiator grille and window trims
  • Black door mirrors
  • Upgraded Audi Sound System fitted as standard

Opt for the Q3 Black Edition, and, although you'll have to pay a hefty £2,400 over an equivalent S line model, there’s a swathe of additional kit as standard. This includes:

  • 19-inch Y-spoke black diamond-cut alloy wheels
  • Lowered S line sport suspension
  • Privacy glass
  • Metallic paint
  • Black exterior styling highlights including black roof rails and gloss black door mirrors
  • Leather and alcantara seats
  • LED interior lighting package
  • BOSE surround sound

Those after something sportier will be pleased to know the TT Coupe and Roadster have – for a £1,600 premium – also been given a number of desirable upgrades to bring them up to Black Edition level, such as:

  • 19-inch five-spoke blade design Audi Sport alloy wheels
  • Black exterior styling pack including black radiator grille, black door mirrors and front and rear bumpers
  • Privacy glass
  • Wind deflector (Roadster only)
  • Bang & Olufsen sound system featuring 12 high-performance speakers and a 680-watt amplifier

Not all engines will be available with new trim level

Those hoping to bag themselves a 1.0-litre A3 with the Black Edition trim will be disappointed. Audi will only offer the new specification on 1.4-litre petrol engines and upwards. This means the least expensive A3 Black Edition will come in at £26,565, while the cheapest diesel will be priced at £26,665.

Opt for the pricier Q3 and only AWD 2.0-litre engines and upwards are available with the Black Edition trim, priced from £35,715 for the 180hp 2.0-litre TFSI Quattro.

There’s no such restriction for the TT however, meaning you can spec all engines – including the entry level 1.8-litre TFSI and 2.0-litre TDI – with the Black Edition trim from £31,735 and £34,695, respectively.
