The Mercedes-Benz GLE is a full-size luxury hybrid SUV that comes with an broad range of engine options, including mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants offered across both petrol and diesel fuel types. The GLE also features a seven-seat option, which limits the number of its rivals. Fitted as standard on all models – apart from the plug-in hybrid version – this addition brings the GLE in line with rivals such as the Volvo XC90, BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Land Rover Discovery.

Updated for 2023, the GLE features a cabin design that borrows features from the flagship Mercedes-Benz S-Class including touch sensitive steering wheel controls that work to control both the digital dashboard display and central infotainment screen. Both use the MBUX software and have a vast amount of functionality, including over-the-air updates and Smart Home functionality – the latter allowing you to use the car’s voice recognition to control lights, heaters and other functions in your house.

Depending on your preference, the GLE is available with a number of petrol and diesel engine options. For example, the 300 d and 450 d versions utilize 48V mild hybrid technology to improve efficiency, while the 400 e petrol engine teams up with an electric motor to deliver up to 66 miles of EV range. All engine variants utilize a nine-speed automatic gearbox and 4Matic all-wheel drive.
