BMW 3-Series Touring: First Impressions

The new 3-Series

Our BMW is the 320d SE Touring, which is a popular choice both in terms of engine and trim level. The list price isn't cheap at £25,710 - and with our optional extras it's not far off £28,000.

It does feature a good array of standard kit (as you'd hope for that price) but there's still room for options at a cost of £2,160.

From the off, the diesel-powered Touring feels very similar to the saloon in terms of driving experience. As the driver you feel very connected to the road and there is a lot of pleasure in tackling corners or roundabouts as the car grip feels so secure especially at the rear.

The 320d is powered by a 2.0-litre engine with 177bhp. It's the same engine that was in the 318d but with an extra 34bhp and more pulling power too. The difference in power is certainly noticeable, the 320d pulls better from low revs and is more reponsive when accelerating in-gear.
