A new insurance product has been launched which covers against drivers mis-fuelling their vehicles.

Complectus, in association with AXA Assistance, will insure against instances where drivers fill up a diesel car with petrol, or vice-versa.

Around 150,000 drivers a year mis-fuel their vehicle, at an average cost of £200 per incident.

The policy will cover the cost of draining and flushing the fuel tank and refilling it - items not normally included in a standard vehicle insurance policy.
