Nissan Micra: First impressions

Micra impresses early on

My six months with Nissan's city car have started.

I was handed the Micra keys today and promptly headed for the car park to have a quick look.

First impressions were good. I went for Tekna - one of the top trims - which added 16-inch alloy wheels; rear parking sensors; automatic headlamps; rain sensing wipers; a leather steering wheel with audio controls; and Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity.

I think our Micra looks better for Tekna's sportier body styling and I'm pleased with my choice of Emotion Red metallic paint (a £375 option).

On the inside, the part-leather upholstery adds an upmarket feel to the cabin and the heated seats will no doubt prove useful on frosty mornings. These options, plus the electric sunroof, cost £975 as the Leather and Light Pack - expensive, but hopefully worth it.

I'm looking forward to driving it now...
