Toyota Proace City dimensions (2020-on)
The Toyota Proace City lineup is easy to understand - with loading dimensions determined by a choice of just two body lengths, and payload determined by engine.
All models get twin sliding doors - rare in the small van sector - and rear side-hinged doors, plus a full-height bulkhead.
Available optionally is a load-extending bulkhead called Smart Cargo, which comes with a dual front passenger seat - this is more of an honorific as it's a very tight squeeze for three in the cab.

The Toyota Proace City is available in two body lengths: the short-wheelbase (SWB) L1 and long-wheelbase (LWB) L2.
Both come with twin sliding doors and twin rear doors, offering plenty of options for loading. Unsurprisingly, the load area and capacity exactly mirrors its sister vans - the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo Cargo - although the standard fitment of twin side doors is unique to the Toyota.
There’s no difference in the height of the body, the added size and capacity of the L2 model comes purely from a longer wheelbase and longer rear overhang.
In fact, the 4,753mm L2 model overlaps with the smallest version of the Toyota Proace medium van in terms of length, but offers less loading capacity.
There’s a maximum load floor length of 2,167mm but this can be increased to 3,440mm with the addition of Smart Cargo – that’s a folding passenger seat and load-through bulkhead,pictured above.

Toyota, like its sister companies, claims this van offers class-leading payload across all of its models, as well as class-leading towing capacity.
Toyota Proace City payload
The maximum payload varies depending on engine and wheelbase. Models fitted with the entry-level 75hp engine can carry 650kg regardless of wheelbase.
Opting for the 100hp engine will see the payload extended to that class-leading 1,000kg figure for short-wheelbase vans. Long-wheelbase models see this reduced to 950kg.

Toyota Proace City towing capacity
All Proace City models are rated to tow up to 1,500kg braked with the optional Towing pack. Unbraked, 75hp models can tow 650kg and 100hp models can tow between 710-740kg.
