Other Audi A6 (2004 - 2011) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

It says that I am classy yet understated, and that I don't need a car that shows off at first glance, but will wipe the floor with other cars when I need it to.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They think its a stunning car, worth every penny it cost and that it lives up to Audi's standards.

Would you buy this car again and why?

If I could look back, I would probably have waited and taken the updated A4, as since relocating I haven't been doing as many motorway miles, so I don't need the space the A6 offers.

What are you likely to buy next?

As I need to downsize, I will probably be buying an A3 Sportback, with the 170BHP diesel engine.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £24,500

When did you buy the car?

    March 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

Got a relatively good deal, paid £24500 and the list price including my extra options was £28500.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Decided that it was time to try something different (i.e move out of the Laguna/Mondeo/Vectra market) and chose the A6 due to there being little pricing difference compared to the A4.

    What was the dealer like?

The dealer/salesperson wasn't pushy, and was happy to spend time looking through the various options and accessories available and was happy to let me try them out in the various A6's they had in stock at the dealer.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Its great to drive, and the steering is extremely light making it easy to use around town. Even though it only has 140BHP, it feels a lot more powerful than that (probably due to the torque as it is a diesel), which makes pulling away easy, and has enough power to get up to speed quickly.

    What's it like to park?

Fairly easy to park due to the parking sensors. Without them it might be a slight struggle, as it is a wide and long car.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

When the car was about a month old, it developed a clutch problem (juddering) when pulling away from a standstill. This was rectified using a friction plate under warranty.

What's most practical about your car?

Large bootspace, and the staggering front and rear leg-room.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Favourite : Parking Sensors Needs work: Satnav. I paid £1500 to upgrade to the DVD (top) version of the navigation system, and its great apart from the fact it wont take full postcodes. It only uses the first 4/5 digits, meaning you can never be directed straight to a location unless you have the House Number and street, without those it takes you to the center of the postcode area.
