  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Depreciates, as expected, a lot better than most cars in the same category.

    Costs

    2 out of 5 2.0

High insurance costs for the car - I wouldn't recommend it as a starter car. Fuel economy isn't good if you've got a heavy right foot and are rev happy, especially with city driving.

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

Handles the road well, especially on tight corners. A bit jittery at speed.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

It's not bad for an old engine performance-wise and is capable for a good run-around, but it still is good for long motorway driving and well capable of staying in the fast lanes. First gear's a bit short though.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

A sound car for the age as long as it's looked after.

    Image

    2 out of 5 2.0

More of a family car if anything. Not one for driving down town in.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Lack of padding in earlier model front seats and the fabric soon wears out (1995-6) but it's sorted in later models. The ride comfort is also excellent with the age of the car, but lack of sound proofing means the stereo needs to be turned up.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

Poor, but I've still got it. (Fit a decent alarm though - the factory one's not up too much.)

    Service

    5 out of 5 5.0

The local Ford garage gave an excellent customer service and still does, even with a car my age.
