  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

The focus is a nice car to drive. It's smooth and comfortable, and the 1.8 was reasonably quick and responsive. Everyone raving about how they handle so well though is a load of b*****ks, there's plenty of body roll and little grip - although as to be expected really from a reasonably big, soft riding family hatch, which isn't set up for road handling.

    What's it like to park?

    Fine.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Yes. Many, many things. The car flooded one day when it rained, so had to get a leak fixed as well as replace the air con which had been damaged by the water. The steering wheel used to violently vibrate above 50mph, was solved if you balanced the wheels for about a week, then would start again. The speedo had a mind of its own - used to just flick around at random speeds or not work at all. And worst of all, the engine used to randomly cut out for no reason at all, then wouldn't start again for a couple of minutes. Did this at least fifteen times in about 6 months. Took it to Ford and they said nothing was wrong with it.

What's most practical about your car?

    Spacious inside.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Quick clear windscreen (although that rarely worked).
