Other Ford Mondeo (1993 - 2000) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Reps car, the V6 badge is very small on the wings and tends not to stand out, so to all and sundry, its just a Mondeo - a working mans car.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Very nice ride, but dated looks now.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Would go for a newer model - the Mk 2 is now about to be replaced - again in July 2007 - by the Mondeo Mk 4. Prices for the Mk 3 will then plummet.

What are you likely to buy next?

The ST220, Wicked. No more to be said.

    £1,700

When did you buy the car?

    February 2007

I knew the guy who sold me the car - so got a good P/X deal on my old Mondy.

Its a good price and the highest spec.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

The dogs bo***cks. Fast, smooth and responsive. The Auto is nowhere near as fast as the ST24 at the top end, although its the same V6 engine, but the lower end acceleration from the lights is superb. Take a good 10 -15 MPH off the top speed for the Manual and this is a realistic figure for the Auto on average. Its the price you pay for being lazy!

    What's it like to park?

Not very agile at the best of times, but as i drive a van normally, its a breeze in comparison.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Having owned it now for a couple of months, faults have appeared, such as the A/C has a duff condensor - over £500 for replacement. Exhaust failed - expensive twin rear boxes required - non Ford replacement an ugly exhaust with huge visible boxes, and a bad fit so had to pay £200 from Ford and fitted myself, but it looks the part and sounds great. All accessories, filters and belts are specialist order from Halfords and even Ford themselves. Breathe the word "V6" to the parts dept and you get the drawn in breath and "its gonna cost you!" and "Gonna have to order it specially" - anyone would think its a Rolls Royce the way they go on!

What's most practical about your car?

Its very roomy and has a large boot.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Cruise control is great, and its got a fuel computer to tell me how much gas its guzzling! - bleeps when the range is down to 50 miles.
