Other Ford Mondeo (2000 - 2007) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Nothing, really. I personally love sports cars, and have had several. I had 2 write offs in one year, and my insurance rating was killed. So i bought the Mondeo, because it was killer cheap to insure. But I must admit, I have kept it, even though my insurnace rating is back. Because the car has been so practical.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Nothing much. Its a mondeo. Practical car to get you from A to B.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Tricky. I personally would buy another mondeo if I wanted a practical car again. But I am afraid the lure of the sports car is rearing it head.

What are you likely to buy next?

    BMW M3 or M5.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £3,200

When did you buy the car?

    October 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, the car was 2 owner car, that had covered just over 60000 miles. Was clean and all the bit worked on it. I got it for 3200, which was about 1000 under the trade price as the time. As it was a partime dealer who bought the car, and was stuck with it.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

The Car was cheap, with FSH, economical to run, and had a wee bit of poke. Also it was nice to drive.

    What was the dealer like?

Nice lad, but a bit clueless. He didn't make any money on selling the car to me. As he just got what he'd paid at auction for the car.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Its a very nice car to drive. I've had several sports cars, and the handling and responsiveness is nearly as good as more expensive sports cars.

    What's it like to park?

Easy. Rear parking sensors would have been a good option to have on the car. As judging the rear of the car can be a little tricky at times. But you always have to reverse into car park spaces.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Yes, sadly the head gasket went when I had the car about 2 years, and cost 1600 quid to rebuild the engine. Spring went after 3 years, and the front dampers had to be replaced this year. Also the A/C pipe broke after about a year with the car. The rear middle seat belt is broken.

What's most practical about your car?

It Fit me and my 4 boys comfortably. Also the 5 door, makes it easy to lug lots of stuff around if and when I need to bring lots of things to the dump.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The Front wind screen demister/deicer. I would not buy a new car without this option fitted. Totally brilliant, and has worked like a charm in deicing the car windscreen and keeping it demisted with out having to have the AirCon on.
